    Technology is not neutral.

    A technology is not a mere tool you might use well or poorly. It's a political battleground where asymmetries of power, societal projects and balances of force are at stake.

    Technological alienation isn't a fate.

    We've lost control, but the process is reversible. What's needed first is to measure it, name it, share it — and that's exactly what a shared framework is for.

    You can't reclaim what you don't understand.

    Technical understanding is a precondition for political emancipation. The TEI makes evaluation accessible without making it simplistic: eight dimensions, an explicit grid, verifiable criteria.

How it works.

Each technology is scored along eight axes of power — independent and complementary. Each axis is rated 0 to 5 against an explicit deontological grid. The total score (out of 40) yields a grade from A to E.

Energy, finance, social, economic, technical, regulatory, deontological, plus an intent axis. The exact list evolves with the ongoing work — it's always up to date in the matrix itself.
0–5 scoring per axis
0 = total opacity or serious non-compliance. 5 = maximal transparency and exemplary compliance. The grid refuses subjective opinions — only factual, sourced elements count.
Dual-view AI
To surface the human evaluator's perceptual biases, the TEI proposes confronting their judgement to several generative AIs. Divergences between AIs are as informative as their convergences — they reveal the blind spots of training corpora.
